About me
Hi, My name is Harris and I am a database administrator with experience managing Oracle database versions 11G, 12C and 19C on Linux(RHEL and OL).
I possess the below certifications:
- Oracle Database Administration 2019 Certified professional
- CompTIA Linux+ xk0-005 certification
- Oracle database SQL certified associate
- Oracle Apex Cloud developer certified professional
Databases and SQL are my thing!
I particularly love the oracle technology stack and spend a lot of my free time poking around the internet learning new tools, technologies and features of the oracle database as well as ways to improve the performance of and write better SQL. I am most happy sitting in front of a keyboard and monitor, keys clacking are my favorite sound and well I just love learning new things about Database technology.
Databases and SQL are well and truly my passion.

Focus Areas
I have experience in core areas of database administration and design, along with maintaining secure enterprise systems and supporting data availability and recovery. I’m also comfortable working with the Linux operating system.
Database Management
On this blog I delve into my life of an oracle dba, from checking the alert log to monitoring Database activity, patching, data migration and some interesting stories of life on the job
Backup and Recovery
Like an Airplane, The modern database can almost run on it's own. However, like a pilot you need someone who's calm and collected when all the red lights are flashing. Here I break down database backup and share tons of recovery scenarios. Your backup is only as good as your ability to recover from it
SQL and PL/SQL
I Love Structured Query Language and It's programmatic extension PL/SQL. On this page I will share all manner of tricks you could use to tackle complex problems and possibly help you solve some problems or make life a little bit easier for you.
Linux
I first started using Linux in 2016, back when my command-line knowledge was basically just “cd” and “exit.” Over time, I’ve built a much stronger, hands-on understanding of the system. I’m still always learning, but I’ve grown into a capable and reliable Linux/system administrator with solid practical experience.
